Sports for weight loss – which one to choose?
Your fat, sometimes sympathetic, sometimes less so, is an insidious villain. If you want to reduce the amount of it, you have no choice but to reach for the heaviest sports weapon. Three of the most aerobic disciplines come to the rescue: swimming, running and cycling. Triathlon was created for a reason. It is an accumulation of sports that require the greatest effort and uncompromisingly deal blows to fluffy parts of the body. Why does this happen? It’s simple.
What to choose?
Intense exercise in this category will increase your heart rate and oxygen exchange, which in turn translates into faster metabolism. However, there is a condition for losing weight in this way. You need to persevere with an elevated heart rate (60-65% of your maximum heart rate and approx. 120-130 heartbeats/1 min) for more than 40 minutes. This is because for the first half an hour, your body burns calories from glycogen in your muscles (in simple terms, from what you have eaten) and only after this time does it reach for the energy reserves stored in the fat. Nobody said it would be easy, but it’s worth considering the fact that each of these disciplines can be liked.
- Running
If you’re starting out, you don’t have to jump in at the deep end and run 10 kilometers at a fast pace and then die under a tree or in a gym like Bridget Jones. Start with a regular walk (during 1 hour you will burn about 250 kcal), then speed up the pace to move on to a run over time (during 1 hour you can burn up to about 780 kcal). To spice things up, bring a companion. Run with a friend or dog.
- Swimming
It’s a real fat buster. During an hour of swimming, you can burn up to 520 kcal. In addition, you will firm your breasts, slim your belly and have a positive effect on your hip and waist line. The game is worth the candle. An additional advantage of this discipline is that it does not squeeze out a sweat like running. If you’re bored with swimming, just like that, consider the option of aerobics in the rein
- Cycling
Pure pleasure. The wind in your hair and the feeling of freedom. An hour of this delight can burn up to 350 kcal. That’s more than 1 doughnut. The prerequisite is good weather, a working bike and most importantly, your willingness.
- Dance
It is an excellent way to lose weight. Dancing burns as many calories as we do during intense walking or even gym exercises. Ballroom dancing allows you to burn from 180 kcal in an hour. With salsa, you can get rid of up to 400 kcal during this time. Regular dance strengthens muscles, especially legs and buttocks, shapes the body, increases strength and improves fitness. In addition, it gently stimulates bones, which causes the body to build new tissue, which in turn strengthens the skeleton. Dancing causes the body to release endorphins (important hormones that relieve pain and help fight depression), which contribute to a well-being experience.
- Playing Tennis
Regular practice of this sport improves motor coordination and reflexes, strengthens muscles. It also helps in burning body fat. You can burn up to 700 kcal during an hour-long workout. Playing tennis is sometimes an element of rehabilitation for people suffering from ischemic heart disease, it also regulates blood pressure. It lowers blood sugar levels, which reduces the risk of developing diabetes. A tennis player’s lungs are more capacious and healthier. Intense physical activity helps prevent heart disease and diabetes, as well as strengthens the body’s immunity.
Losing weight through sport, combined with a sensible diet, is the healthiest way to lose weight. However, there is one snag. You need to be systematic and move at least 3 to 5 times a week. If you have too many breaks between workouts, your body will unfortunately not respond with weight loss. But if you persevere, you will see the first results after just a few weeks and after 3 months you will feel the first satisfaction. And then, you’ll like it and you won’t want to live any other way.
